This is what I woke up to one morning while camping, and I HAD to capture video of it (along with stills). I find the sounds to be just as mesmerizing as the repetition found in the flow of the water ripples.
Also, I think I’ve started a new project as of last week where I film a few minutes of my day and then share it with others. It’s not that I think I’m a very interesting person, but I do like to capture little bits of my life to reflect on later.
I often think about photography and what classifies it as art, and I always come up with multiple answers - but every once in a while I manage to write my thoughts down.
While camping, I looked at the nature around me and marveled at the amount of detail that lies in every tree, every leaf, every grain of sand and beyond. Photography gives me the ability to frame a little piece of nature’s canvas, and then share that fragment of space and time with others. Not only does it capture the absolute beauty (or ugliness) of the world, but it saves a millisecond of time in such a way that you can literally hold in your hand at a later date. It’s very real, and in my kind of photography, it’s unaltered.
I want to capture pieces of my world as they were so that I can always remember where I came from.
